ADAT A tape-based modular eight-track digital recorder made by Alesis.
AIFF (audio interchange file format) An uncompressed digital audio file format.
Ambient miking A recording technique where microphones are positioned away from a sound source so they capture the natural acoustics and reverberation of a recording environment.
Amplitude Refers to the level or strength of a signal; when displayed visually the louder the sound the higher the waveform.
Analogue Refers to a continuous unbroken signal as opposed to a digital signal that is broken up and represented by a stream of numbers.
Arrange window The main window you will see on MIDI sequencer or DAW whilst making music.
Attenuate To reduce the level of a signal.
