2.6. Developing General Performance-Tuning Goals
Although stress testing is useful in characterizing the impact that a change has on an SAP system, the team responsible for maintaining the system must agree on exactly what is important, and to what degree, when it comes to quantifying performance. In the past, I have used the process of identifying a team's general solution vision, hammering out goals related to achieving this vision, and then ranking various solution characteristics and budget constraints to help identify precisely what is key to stress testing and tuning, versus what falls outside of these boundaries.
