Whether it's called DR Planning, Business Continuity Planning, or something else, the goal of disaster recovery is clear—to protect an organization's Production data and business processes from interruptions beyond what is deemed an acceptable threshold. The challenge is threefold:
Determine precisely where the acceptable threshold for a particular business organization lies in terms of timeframes. Can the system be down no longer than an hour? A day? A few days? This is the organization's threshold of pain.
