We will take a quick tour to learn what the various MySQL tools are, where the binary and data files live, what command-line tools are available, and what the most commonly used client-side user interfaces are. We will cover the following:

MySQL Directory Structure
We will assume in this discussion that you have installed MySQL in the default location on your operating system. If you have installed it elsewhere, the basic directory structure will still be the same, but the base locations will be different.
