Scheduling Preventive Maintenance
You should consider setting up a schedule of preventive maintenance to help detect problems automatically so that you can take steps to correct them:
Perform regular database backups and enable update logging. I've mentioned this before, right?
Arrange for periodic table checking on a regular basis. By checking your tables, you'll reduce the chance of having to use your backups. This is most easily accomplished by using a cron job, typically invoked from the crontab file of the account used to run the server.
