2.1.1 Strategy for the Calculation of Carrier Concentration
In a semiconductor, it is important to calculate the concentration of carriers in the conduction and valence bands. The number of carriers per unit volume (1 cm3) is huge and we only know the occupation probability of states with a given energy. In this case, we need to calculate the number of states for a given energy first, multiply it with the occupation probability, and then add all of the products.
