Abstract

Currently, there exists a concerted effort toward the development of wound healing bionanomaterials. Bionanomaterials often exhibit integrated qualities of biocompatibility with the human body that can be bioactivated to exacerbate cellular proliferation, or to control cellular morphology. This chapter describes fundamental considerations in the design of such bionanomaterials with a focus on skin properties, material types, surface structures, and methods for nanofabrication.
