Abstract
Polymer nanocomposites comprise a class of materials formed by at least one finely dispersed phase with nanometric dimensions, such as lamellar clay, carbon nanotubes, or silica, in a polymer matrix. These materials stand out because they have a significant potential for providing increased thermal, mechanical, and gas barrier properties when compared to polymers that are pure or that have been modified with conventional additives. ...
