Tower Lighting and Monitoring
Introduction
One critical component of delivering broadcast content to the public is tower ownership. Of the 118,000 plus structures listed in the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Antenna Structure Registration (ASR) database, about 12,000 are owned by broadcasters. The vast majority of these structures are guyed or self-support towers. Also included are rooftop, pole, or other constructions (see Figure 9.3-1 for an example of a tower candelabra). A common theme with most broadcast structures is the intrusion into trafficked airspace.
