Chapter 3

Single-phase and Multiphase Flow in Natural Gas Production Systems

Abstract

The flow of liquid, gases, vapor, two-phase flow, and many other fluid systems has received sufficient study to allow definite evaluation of conditions for a variety of process situations. This chapter covers process piping design, material selection guidelines, and pipeline sizing, and presents the most popular pressure drop equations and fluid velocity. The subject of this chapter is mathematical relationships, based on which pipe size is calculated. Also, this chapter covers single-phase liquid flow, single-phase gas flow, and specific cases requiring special treatment, and discusses in depth two-phase oil and gas calculations in process pipes.
