Chapter 7

Safety Relive Valves Design

Abstract

Safety relief valves shall be provided to protect all equipment subject to overpressure and under certain other conditions, as specified in this chapter. Generally speaking, this fully mechanical valve is designed to open based on an overpressure situation within a process pressure system, thus, not only protecting life but safeguarding the investment and plant itself. This chapter covers minimum requirements for process design and engineering of pressure-relieving devices in natural gas industries excluding cryogenic services. Unless otherwise specified, the safety devices shall be provided when the overpressure exceeds the design pressure of the equipment.
