1 Start by making lyrical brushstrokes with a #12 round brush dipped in a light-green wash. Dance your brush about using both the broad side and the tip. Make about five repeating areas that all angle in toward the center of your paper. They will look a bit like romaine lettuce leaves.

2 Apply darker-green paint to your brush and tap into the wet areas to allow the color to move around.
