Disorders of the genitourinary system include diseases and disorders that affect the urinary bladder, ureters, and kidneys as well as disorders of the prostate and testes. The nurse should be particularly sensitive to the client’s emotional needs because many genitourinary disorders affect both the client’s physical and emotional well-being, as well as sexuality. The nurse should provide clients with a list of the various support groups who offer services to those with genitourinary disorders.
