A7.1 | A contractor is a person who has been hired to perform one or more activities. This person typically resides at the purchasing company’s location and works alongside other contractors and company employees. A contractor can work under the direction of a representative of the contractor’s company or under the direction of the purchasing company. Contractors typically work on an hourly basis and are not paid directly by the purchasing company; the purchasing company usually pays the contractor’s company for the work performed.
