CHAPTER 14
Meetings
“When planning a project, we often overlookthe large number of meetings that will be necessary to attend—and those necessary to avoid.”
Q14.1 | Meetings are a big problem where I work. There are too many, they are usually run poorly, and they take too long. Any advice? |
A14.1 | Most of us waste a lot of time on meetings. Only attend meetings that you need to attend—that is, if you need something as a result of the meeting, or someone else needs something from you during the meeting. Be sensitive to the needs of those who require information from you or require your participation and discussion in order for their meeting to be successful. Don’t attend meetings out of habit or because you are curious about something. |
