Chapter 2

Attributes of Effective Leader-Negotiators

Abstract

This chapter introduces how a Leader-Negotiators' (L-Ns') thinking is seen in behavior and behavior is seen in the way an L-N uses power. The three powers of effective L-Ns are personal, professional, and situational. These three powers are influenced by the five attributes: self-control, emotional maturity, depersonalization, managing failure, and coping with imperfection. These attributes increase L-N intelligence. They are foundational to problem-solving, decision-making, taking effective action, building competent teams, and crafting strategy.
