This chapter focuses on peer-to-peer networking, or what is thought of as traditional networking. Many good sources for background material are available, so the sources have been organized into two groups.
The following books give solid background material for networking. Win32 System Services and Win32 Network Programming provide an excellent treatise on networking on a Win32 platform. They discuss most aspects of Win32 network programming. Unix Network Programming is one of those classic books that is required reading to understand key technologies, such as sockets, ports, and connections.
