I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Installing Cygwin
Before you can use the GMP library, you need to have a platform that you can use it on. As is usually the case with GNU software, the assumed platform is Linux, or some form of UNIX. This book is intended for .NET programmers, which makes the implicit assumption that you are programming on some flavor of Microsoft Windows. The resulting problem is that the GMP library will not run directly on Windows without some help.
To solve this problem, we use an open-source product from Red Hat, named Cygwin. Cygwin provides Microsoft Windows with a UNIX programming environment.
