2.6. Task 2.6: Implementing Bluetooth
Bluetooth technology is ideal for "cutting the cord" between peripherals and their host computers as long as the two remain in close proximity with one another; in the case of products that fall into Class 2 or 3, the maximum distance should be 10 meters and 1 meter, respectively. This same model works for many other pairings, such as cell phones and wireless headsets. Newer applications continue to emerge and include, but are not limited to, the following:
Low-bandwidth networking between computers, personal digital assistants (PDAs), cell phones, MP3 players, and digital cameras
Wireless in-car phones
Replacement for infrared in remote controls
Hearing aid attachments
Wireless gaming controllers
