Chapter 3. Network Baselining Tools
This chapter presents some of the key network protocol analyzers along with other tools used to capture and evaluate the relevant data and statistics required when performing a network baseline study. Various tools can be combined with some of the tools mentioned in this chapter that are custom to certain networking infrastructure environments. Some of these tools include network management systems for internetwork hubs, switches, and routers. This particular chapter is dedicated to a review of specific tools in the category of network-based protocol analyzers, which can capture data and enable an analyst to view that data from a LAN and WAN analysis viewpoint.
