We'll now look at additional examples that illustrate important aspects of the IO::Socket API. The first is a rewritten and improved version of the reverse echo server from Chapter 4. The second is a simple Web client.

Reverse Echo Server Revisited

We'll now rewrite the reverse echo server in Figure 4.2. In addition to being more elegant than the earlier version (and easier to follow, in my opinion), this version makes several improvements on the original. It replaces the dangerous signal handler with a handler that simply sets a flag and returns.
