V2X Requirements, Standards, and Regulations
In this chapter, we discuss requirements derived from use cases for vehicular communications and related activities in standards developing organizations (SDOs) and regulation bodies. In this discussion, a number of unexpected conclusions will come up—in particular, we discuss why vehicular communications can indeed support advanced solutions for assisted driving, but the real need for it will only occur in a later stage, when fully autonomous vehicles are deployed in large scale numbers.
