CHAPTER 4Gender and the Brain

In this section we lay out the principles of neuroscience that apply in particular to cisgender women and men.

For purposes of clarity, cis refers to biological gender at birth being identical to gender identity in later years.

In this chapter we talk about girls at birth identifying as women in their later years, and boys at birth identifying as men in their older years.

Not enough research has been done on transgender and gender fluid brains, and we truly believe more time and resources need to be devoted to understanding this important segment of humanity. For the benefit of humanity, we strongly encourage this investment and research.

With humility, we assert that all learnings in this chapter are just restricted to the section of humanity that is cisgender female and cisgender male alone. For purposes of brevity, all references to female or women, or male or men, in this chapter merely refer to cisgender female and male.

The Cisgender Female Brain

With few exceptions, in country after country women have emerged as perhaps the most powerful and influential consumers of all time.

But modern neuroscience teaches a critical lesson: Reaching and appealing to the female brain requires a deep understanding of the ways in which they are unique, from structural differences to specific functions.
