Kapitel 3: Mustererkennung durch ein Hopfield-Netz

John Joseph Hopfield stellte 1982 sein Modell eines Neuronalen Netzes vor. Auch er verwendet Elemente mit zwei Zuständen, nämlich 1 und –1. Damit sind, im Gegensatz zur Hebb-Formel (Formel 2) auch hemmende Elemente möglich.

Die sich ergebende Funktionalität solcher Netze sind sogenannte Assoziativspeicher, die – wie Sie sehen werden – sogar Bilder speichern und wiedererkennen können. Und zwar auch dann, wenn die Bilder teilweise verrauscht sind. Weiterhin haben sie die Möglichkeit, ähnliche Bilder wiederzuerkennen, weshalb sie sich auch gut zur Erkennung von handgeschriebenen Schriftzeichen eignen.
