Who is an Architect?

There is certain ambiguity on what a software architect should be doing. Within the industry there is variation in nature of work and the responsibilities that an architect undertakes. The present day IT architects involve themselves in variety of activities, with little uniformity. This is especially so in software service Industry where an architect is a skilled resource.
