In the Quick Tour and first two chapters of this book, I cover all the basic settings you need to make most of the adjustments you'll use for everyday shooting with your Nikon D200. In this chapter, I introduce you to the rest of the options you can use to fine-tune how your camera operates. Tucked away in the menu system, these settings usually customize your camera's defaults so it uses the image size, white balance, focus modes, and other preferences you want to use most of the time. I also detail some of the most commonly changed setup parameters you can use to tailor your D200's operation.
It's important to note once again that this book is not intended to replace the manual furnished with the D200 or to provide a rehash of its contents (although you'll find there is a bit of unavoidable duplication between the official manual and this chapter). This guide has been written as a quick reference you can carry with you in your camera bag and pull out when you need some quick advice on how to take a picture, or how to set up your camera for a particular type of shot. So, in this chapter I list the key menu options to make it easy for you to find the setting that does what you want.
