Chapter 11 Distraction
The use of distraction to carry out an attack can be critical. Often security systems, security personnel, and bystanders will notice something unusual when we carry out an attack, either physical or logical, if we do not give them something else more interesting to look at or some problem to occupy their minds. Among the many types of distraction that we can provide for such occasions, we can use big events to distract them, such as holidays or sporting events, we can sow false information regarding people or company events and we can use distractors or specific attack timing to ensure that they are looking elsewhere.
