2.1 INTRODUCTION
One of the reasons that this chapter is included in the book, rather than just launching into the applications of NLP for you as a BA, is that, being a complete system, there are some aspects of NLP that underpin any and every activity that we use it for. In this chapter we establish the foundations of NLP, including its origins, principles, presuppositions and generic tools and techniques which underpin more specific applications. It will provide you with sufficient understanding to try out all of the applications to the role of BA described in Part 3.
