DANIEL VASELLA: SELF-AWARENESS

For fourteen years, as chairman and CEO of Novartis AG, Daniel Vasella, MD, led the Swiss pharmaceutical company through a period of rapid growth with carefully chosen acquisitions, mergers, divestitures, and investments, including in a world-class research facility. Under Vasella's leadership, Novartis developed a diversified portfolio: pharmaceuticals to treat cardiovascular disease, cancer, and other conditions; generic drugs; vaccines; and consumer health products.
