negative leading

A leading measurement in which the leading value is smaller than the point size of the type. For example, 24/20 would be negative leading.

nonbreaking characters

Special characters (such as hyphens or slashes) that force words or fractions to stay together even at the ends of lines.

nonbreaking space

A word space that keeps two words together, preventing them from breaking onto two separate lines.
