New donors, who don’t know the organization, may come forward because the event itself sounds fun and interesting, because of who invites them, or because someone they admire is being honored. Special events, whether they’re held in person or online only, can be wonderful catalysts for attracting support from businesses that like to be recognized when they make contributions or for attracting people who like to socialize and “be seen.”
