For the most part, creating a nonprofit to lessen the burden of government comes with a recognition that Americans, while generous to nonprofits in general, are not particularly generous in donations to reduce the burden of government—this is evidenced by the fact that donations to reduce the size of the debt are constantly by my own calculations (of total national debt divided by the donation for reducing the debt) between 1–2 percent of the debt per year for the past 15 years.
