Media Shortcuts

Just below the Daily Shelf are five small icons: one for books, one for the newsstand, one for movies, one for music, and one for apps. They’re a quick-and-simple way to see a list of the most recent books, newspapers, apps and so on that you’ve recently read or used, and to get recommendations on others you might be interested in.

Tap any icon and you’ll see a list of the items in that category you’ve recently read or used, along with recommendations—for example, the B&N top-selling 100 books. Tap the icon of any item, and you’ll get sent straight to it.

Note

If you could do without these Media Shortcuts, they’re easy to get rid of. Just press the NOOK Button, go to SettingsHome, and tap the checkbox next to Media Shortcuts to disable it. When you return to the Home screen, they’ll be gone.
