MarkLogic Server functionality ranges from simple document storage, to search, to semantic triple store capabilities. Document lifecycle is supported through creation, conversion, entity extraction, alerting, search, content processing, storage tiering, and disposition.

Often the difficulty in fully understanding MarkLogic Server relates to which areas of functionality are relevant for which business solutions. It’s easy to become overwhelmed by the science and list of functionality. So, you need to focus on the areas that are likely to provide you with the most value, both in the short-term and in the long-term as your NoSQL installation (inevitably) expands.
