The Post Office Agent (POA) is the workhorse of the GroupWise system. It is responsible for delivering mail to users, providing them with access to their mailboxes in client/server mode, indexing mailboxes and libraries, maintaining and repairing the message store, and redirecting users to other post offices for proxy or login.

It can be complicated to correctly configure the POA.
