Drugs and their Classification
- On the basis of pharmacological effect: It is useful for doctors.
For example, analgesics have pain-killing effect.
- On the basis of drug action: All antihistamines (inhibit the action of the compound), histamine (causes inflammation in the body).
- On the basis of chemical structure: These drug share common structural features and often have similar pharmacological activity.
- On the basis of molecular targets: Drugs usually interact with biomolecules such as lipids, proteins, carbohydrates and nucleic acids. These are called drug targets or target molecules.

Enzymes are the proteins which perform the role of biological catalysts in human body.
