Drugs and their Classification

1. On the basis of pharmacological effect: It is useful for doctors.

   For example, analgesics have pain-killing effect.

2. On the basis of drug action: All antihistamines (inhibit the action of the compound), histamine (causes inflammation in the body).
3. On the basis of chemical structure: These drug share common structural features and often have similar pharmacological activity.
4. On the basis of molecular targets: Drugs usually interact with biomolecules such as lipids, proteins, carbohydrates and nucleic acids. These are called drug targets or target molecules.
