Plato

INTRODUCTION

Plato is famously known as the father of political philosophy and his firm support for ‘idea’ as the source of true knowledge makes him the founder of philosophical idealism. He was a disciple of Socrates, a staunch critic of democracy, a great humanist, and a firm believer in man’s rationality. Plato is known for his elaborate discussions on the Socratic method of dialectics and for establishing the concept of justice as a cornerstone of political philosophy in his book ‘Republic.
