ELECTORAL SYSTEM
The electoral system basically describes the method of electoral competition and explains the manner in which parties or candidates contest and win elections in a political arena, i.e., how votes are converted into seats. The electoral system is mostly of two kinds—a majoritarian and a proportional representation system.
