Monitoring and Evaluation of Public Policy in India

INTRODUCTION

Monitoring is a continuous process of gathering and evaluating data to evaluate a program’s effectiveness. Program planning, monitoring, and improvement all involve the utilization of this data. India has not yet set minimal requirements for evaluating public programs. It becomes difficult to compare the same program across states and time because of the considerable variance in quality and frequency of evaluations caused by their absence. Additionally, this makes it simpler to challenge results, particularly when they don’t live up to expectations.
