Chapter 9: Numerical methods in large-eddy simulation

Abstract

The scope of this chapter is to discuss implementation of the large-eddy simulation (LES) technique and related issues. The emphasis will be put on the main theoretical and practical issues, details of the modeling process being available in the references listed in this chapter. The single-phase incompressible flow framework is used to this end, since it is the simplest case which makes it possible to discuss the main open issues related to LES.
