Statistics is a branch of mathematics that studies the collection, organization, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of data. There are two major statistical methods used in the study. The field of descriptive statistics summarizes and describes the properties of the data for a sample. The field of inferential statistics draws conclusions and makes predictions about the population.
