Preliminary investigation of two-phase microreactors

Abstract

Microreactor studies have achieved striking progress in the key technologies of design, manufacture, integration, and parallel scale-up of microchannels. In this chapter, we sum up the progress in the mathematical modeling, numerical simulation, and experimental studies on microreactors. Since the traditional computational fluid dynamics (CFD) technique is awkward in incorporating the microscopic interactions, the multiphase lattice Boltzmann (LB) models have emerged as a particularly useful numerical scheme, which is suitable for multi-component and immiscible multiphase flow, mass and heat transfer processes in microreactors.
