Before we can venture very far into the world of Oracle database administration, we're going to need to install the software required to actually run the database. In this chapter, we'll take a step-by-step look at various methods of installing Oracle on a server machine. Additionally, we'll look at the steps and requirements for an Oracle installation on both Windows and Linux to establish a broader outlook for database administration as a whole.
