Why Plan Your Solaris 11 Installation?
Many UNIX-based operating systems are promoted on the premise that they “just work.” And it’s a great concept—both for casual and professional users. After all, a modern OS can make many reasonable assumptions about the hardware you’ve got: the smallest disk the hardware is likely to have, the likely minimum complement of RAM, the built-in networking components (including wireless transceivers), and so on. In that vein, you can probably install Solaris 11 on a current laptop without much preparation and expect it to work out of the box.
