Using the LiveCD GUI Installer
If you haven’t already downloaded the Oracle Solaris 11/11 Live Media for X86 image, do so now. The URL is www.oracle.com/technetwork/server-storage/solaris11/downloads, or you can enter Solaris 11 download in your search engine of choice. Accept Oracle’s license agreement to enable the download; you’ll have to create an account on Oracle’s site if you don’t already have one. You can use the file sol-11-1111-live-x86.iso by attaching it to a virtual machine you define in VirtualBox. Or you can burn it to a CD, DVD, or thumb drive (total size is 821MB). Remember, you’ll need specific software to install the image to a thumb drive so that you can boot from it.
