Updating the Solaris 11 Image with IPS
In IPS terminology, updating is defined as installing the most recent version of a package or image. This definition includes first-time installations, too, which are listed separately (hence, the two windows shown by calling the Update Manager through the Package Manager). Remember also that any constraints and dependencies built in to packages already installed may prevent the image from adding packages. All the Update Manager does, then, is automate this approach.
