Managing Log Files

On-disk storage space is not the precious commodity it once was. Still, a system that runs a lot of chatty processes and logs every facility at a low severity level can consume a lot of space. The default installation parameters for Solaris 11 still configure the /var file system as a separate entity, so you can place whatever limits you want on the disk space you allow for log messages and other variable-size files: print spools, software install manifests, and so on.
