Preparing to Deliver a Presentation in Person

In this section, we'll look at how you set up your presentation displays, how you use PowerPoint's Presenter view to keep your notes and controls on screen, how to practice your presentation, and how to record timings for slides that you want to advance themselves automatically.

Setting Up Your Display and Choosing the Resolution

Your first step is to connect your PC to the display or projector on which you'll give the presentation, and then get the displays set up. This example use a laptop and Windows 7:

  1. Connect the projector to the laptop's external display port.
  2. Turn on the projector.
  3. Turn on the laptop and log on.
