PowerPoint Lesson 1: Microsoft PowerPoint 2013 Jumpstart
In this lesson, you’ll make a simple presentation with Microsoft PowerPoint 2013. If you prefer to start with a detailed step-by-step introduction to the features of PowerPoint, proceed to Lesson 2, “Getting Started with Microsoft PowerPoint 2013,” then return to this lesson later.

Starting up
You will work with files from the PPT01lessons folder. Make sure that you have loaded the OfficeLessons folder onto your hard drive from www.digitalclassroombooks.com/Office2013. If you need further instructions, see “Loading lesson files” in the Starting up section of this book.
This Jumpstart lesson contains minimal explanation through the basic functions you’ll use in every PowerPoint 2013 presentation: selecting a theme, adding slides, editing text, inserting images, applying basic animations, and starting a slide show. Most PowerPoint presentations are no more complicated than the sample file in this lesson. The remaining lessons explore these functions in greater detail, introduce some of PowerPoint’s more advanced features, and introduce you to topics such as presentation style and visual design.
