Working with Columns and Rows

Manipulating columns and rows in your sheets is straightforward. You can easily change the column width for a column or columns and adjust row heights. You can also insert or delete columns and rows as needed. Inserting or deleting columns or rows doesn’t change the number of columns or rows in the sheet; the number of columns or rows in a sheet is fixed. In the case of inserting columns or rows, however, it does enable you to open up some whitespace in a sheet when you need to add data. When you delete columns or rows, you remove them from their current position; they aren’t removed from the sheet.
